STATION 64 TRANSITION OF RESPONSIBILITY FROM ORANGE COUNTY TO THE CITY OF WINTER PARK

Original Owner: Goldenrod-Domerich Fire Protection District
Current Owner: Orange County - 1981 consolidation

HISTORY: As the response district around Station 64 has slowly been annexed, the City of Winter Park and Orange County have maintained open dialogue regarding the future operation of the station. Noticing that Winter Park would need to begin assuming responsibility for operating Station 64, the Winter Park City Commission directed the staff in 1999 to continue negotiations and develop a plan of implementation for a transfer of responsibility.

IMPLEMENTATION OBJECTIVES:

  • Complete inter-local agreement with Orange County
  • Hold public meeting to inform area residents of planned transition of responsibility
  • Continue hiring process to select employees for Phase 1 of plan
  • Implement transfer of electronic data to improve dispatching response times
  • Complete ordering of needed apparatus and equipment
