STATION 64 IMPLEMENTATION PLAN

THE PLAN:
Both Orange County and Winter Park staff members developed a plan that would phase the transition of Station 64 over a period of three years. The intent of the plan was to limit the financial impact of the additional personnel (9) required by the City to operate the facility, and allow the County the ability to filter the existing personnel into other assignments throughout their operation.

PHASE 1 - AUGUST 2000:

  • Winter Park staffs one of three shifts assigned to Station 64
  • Orange County maintains two shift assignments
  • Communications improvements to allow joint dispatching of calls
  • Shared operational responsibilities
  • Orange County begins renovation project to bring the facility up to current standards.

PHASE 2- JULY 2001:

  • Winter Park staffs two of three shifts assigned to Station 64
  • Orange County maintains one shift assignment
  • Continued shared operational responsibilities

PHASE 3- JULY 2002:

  • Winter Park staffs all three shifts assigned to Station 64
  • Orange County completes assignments
  • Explore options for further joint-staff possibilities - Rescue 64
