Dear Diane,
Thank you for organizing the Fire Station tour for our
brownies in Mockingbird 1510. The Fire Fighters were so
gracious to show us all the workings of a real station.
The girls really got a kick out of spraying the fire hose.
Thanks again for making it happen.

Dear Chief,
I want to take a moment of your time to express my deepest
appreciate for the crew from Station 61 who showed up at
my house and found me in great distress . . . I live close
by and I think it took all of three minutes for them to
get to my house after the call.
... Lieutenant Brad Grainger, Engineer Herk Mueller
and Firefighters Mike Bass, John Fortier and Pat Rutherford
put my wife at ease . . . They never left me alone in the
E.R. until the doctor took over which was quite a long wait.
Needless to say they were wonderful to me.
This was a first time experience for me and I certainly
feel that my tax dollars were extremely well used. Again.
My sincere thanks to the crew from Station 61.
Respectfully,
Larry M, Winter Park

Dear Chief White,
My husband and I were the lucky bidder on a recent auction
prize to benefit the Winter Park Presbyterian Church . .
. Our prize was a ride-a-long in one of your fire trucks.
Little did we know that it also included a tour of your
fire station and a lift up in the bucket truck.
We had a great time and your staff of Lieutenants
Dan Hagedorn and Craig Rosewicz along with Engineers Kevin
Dixon and Jeff Spinili made it a very pleasant experience.
Thank you,
Caroline J, Winter Park

It was a terrible time, but your guys treated him with great
dignity, and me with great kindness . . . I will long remember
the kind men who were there when we needed help.
Thank you so much,

Dear Chief White,
This past week a subcontractor working on a project
in Hannibal Square was trapped in a three-foot trench by
dirt and a concrete curb that collapsed on him.
Your units responded in a very timely manor, and with
the most professional efficiency that I have witnessed,
abstracted the individual from the trench while simultaneously
administering medical attention to the victim.
Your department is to be commended for they efforts.
The individual was released from the hospital later that
same evening and I believe that was made possible from the
shill and efficiency administered . . .
The City of Winter Park is extremely fortunate to have
a department with the capability shown this past week.
Sincerely,
Dan B, Winter Park

you gave to me and my friends.
I had a lot of fun!

Chief White,
Michael's Arts & Crafts is proud to have become a member
of the Winter Park business community. The support of the
Winter Park Fire Department through attendance at our March
29, 2005 Family Fun Event has made us feel welcome. Together
we were able to foster a fun and safe environment for families
to come together for crafting and community education.
We appreciate the Winter Park Firefighters allowing
the children a close-up look at the fire trucks, and the
fire hats were a big hit with kids and adults alike. The
Winter Park Fire Department's dedication to safety and the
community brings an important positive message to our customers,
without the firefighters there would be no fun in Family
Fun Event. The staff of Michael's thanks you for your continued
support.

Dear Chief White,
. . . I just wanted you to know that the high point
of my ordeal was the ride to Winter Park Hospital with two
of Winter Park Fire Department's finest, Firefighters
Richard Ribar and Rodney Childers.
They kept me calm and truly demonstrated their professionalism.
Once I was settled in the ER, they continued to check on
me throughout the evening as they transported other patients
. . . I really appreciated their concern.
I was already a big fan of the Winter Park Fire Department.
Now I am even more so.
Sincerely,
Susan B., Winter Park

Dear Chief White,
On Saturday, April 24, B Shift) I had a concern at my
home . . . I smelled something burning and saw smoke coming
from and air conditioning duct.
Your people responded with great support and as professionally
as anyone could imagine. They were so respectful of our
property in locating the problem. From top to bottom they
were just wonderful and very professional people. It was
easy to see how well trained and compassionate they were.
I am sure you hear when things don't go so well, so
I felt compelled to write and report on behalf of your great
crew. Please thank them and thanks to you for your important
leadership.
Sincerely Yours,

Dear Chief White,
To the 9-1-1 Team who came to my mother's apartment
. . .
You were wonderful! caring, concerned, humorous, and
professional. I was able to relax once you arrived. Taking
her to the hospital was the right thing to do and I appreciated
your staying with us until she was moved into a room.

Dear Chief White,
I would like to commend the firefighters
who responded a couple of weeks ago when someone smelled
the marker that is usually present in natural gas around
the building.
They were methodical and paid great attention
to detail. They were also calm and very courteous to the
residents in asking us to evacuate the building until they
could confirm that there was no danger.
Once the problem was discovered, the gas
was turned off and we were allowed back in our apartments
and the firefighters wished us a good night.
Good job!

Dear Chief White,

Dear Chief,
I wanted to let you know about an event
which happened in my home for which I received services
from your EMS Department. A house guest slipped on the bottom
of our stairs. It was clear that she had broken her lower
leg . . .The Fire Department responded very promptly and
professionally to our 9-1-1 call . . .
I think your staff is to be commended and
deserves recognition for what I am sure was something done
in the ordinary course of business for them, but it was
important to me.
Very Truly Yours,
Hal K., Winter Park

Dear Chief White,
I would like to thank the crew that was
on duty this past Memorial Day. As it happened this holiday,
my mother and severely handicapped brother (Parkinson's
disease) had automobile trouble (broken timing chain) in
front of that fire station.
It was a hot summer's day and your firefighter's
invited them into the fire station and rehydrated them,
offered food and the use of the telephone and generally
took very good care of them. I feel this shift went above
and beyond the normal call of duty this day.
Best Regards,
Rocky C, Winter Park

Fire personnel. I just recently experienced a very tragic
loss. Our 911 call went out to Station 61 and the response
team was absolutely wonderful. Each member handled the situation
with the utmost professionalism and compassion that I believe
I have ever experienced.
Every one of the Fire personnel that we
encountered that morning was so kind and helpful. The paramedics
were gentle and clamed me down during a time of panic and
crisis. I commend each and every one of them for the wonderful
job they did and the care they provided me.

Dear Chief White,
On the morning of March 23rd I fell and
struck my head on a hard surface. Within minutes after a
call for help a Winter Park Fire and Rescue team was at
my side. They simultaneously assessed the accident site,
took my vital signs, stabilized my condition, placed me
on a board, comforted my mother and then safely transported
me the a hospital.
My team acted quickly, calmly and effectively.
There is no doubt in my mind that my recovery is due in
large part to the expertise of my team. You are the best.

Dear Chief,
This past Christmas Eve, my husband and
I had a fire in our home. The fire began in the early morning
from a short in the wiring in our bathroom. It slowly spread
throughout the insulation in the attic all day without our
knowledge.
At approximately 7pm, several breakers
threw in succession. Smoke penetrated the ceiling in the
hall which caused our smoke alarm to sound. The garage interior
began filling with smoke. We called 911.
The Winter Park Fire Department arrived
in just a few minutes it took us to remove our cars away
from the site. We them stood across the street and watched
flames blazing out of the roof and smoke pouring out of
all the openings in and around the roof.
My husband and I, as well as our neighbors,
are still in awe at the manner in which the situation was
controlled by the Winter Park Fire Department.
As a long-term resident of Winter Park,
we truly appreciate the value of our tax dollar which provides
manpower, equipment and training to a fire department which
is second to none!
Jim M., Winter Park
