Emergency Communications Center is a cooperative effort
between the Winter Park Fire and Police Departments. The
Center,
which is the primary Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP)
for all Winter Park residents, handles on an average of
107,000 events yearly. These events can be broken down into
approximately 23,000 Police Case Number Assignments, 5,000
Fire Run Number Assignments, 67,800 Phone Calls and 88,700
Computer Entries and Inquiries.
The
state-of-the-art communication facility is responsible for
providing immediate, accurate, and comprehensive dispatching
in response to 911 and other requests for Police, Fire,
EMS and City services. In conjunction to this, is the provision
of providing reliable communication with other public safety
agencies at the local, state, and national levels. Utilizing
a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System, enhanced
911 System, and an 800-Megahertz radio communications network,
unit personnel receive and respond to all citizen requests
for emergency service and accordingly dispatch the appropriate
Police, Fire, EMS, and City assistance.
